WHSA - World Heritage Sites Award

Dear OM, YL and SWL friends,

We introduce the new Amateur Radio Award W.H.S.A. dedicated to the World Heritage Sites as listed by the UNESCO in its official page http://whc.unesco.org/

We asked to UNESCO to be the main sponsor of this project and this official investiture should come very soon.

Start date of all WHSA activities was January 1st, 2014.

The purpose, of course is, to give large publicity to each World Heritage Reference the Radio Amateurs will activate, and to publish their reportages in a proper page, in this way we hope to increase the knowledge of the places that are recognized as "World Heritage".

We hope this Award will become an international HAM Award as almost 170 Countries have one or more Sites that have been awarded as "World Heritage Site". Of course for our purposes from these Sites we got a large number of objects or areas that have been listed as References of the W.H.S.A.

Even if this Award starts in Italy by A.R.I., the most important Italian Radio Amateur Association, we hope other Associations over the world will join our project and collaborate with us to manage the WHSA list.

The list we have made is to be considered provisional, as we know the situation of our Country but every other HAM Association knows its own situation better than us.

So every suggestion is welcome in order to integrate this list to get it as complete as possible.

And of course all National Radio Amateur Organizations are encouraged to take part to the project.

Cari OM, YL e SWL vi presentiamo il Diploma dei Siti considerati dall'UNESCO Patrimonio dell'Umanità. Per questo abbiamo richiesto all'Unesco di essere lo sponsor principale del Diploma. Questi siti sono elencati nella pagina ufficiale dell'UNESCO: http://whc.unesco.org/ Il Diploma è partito il 1° gennaio 2014 Lo scopo, ovviamente è quello di promuovere la conoscenza dei Siti giudicati dall'UNESCO Patrimonio dell'Umanità mediante attivazioni radioamatoriali. Ci auguriamo che questo Diploma possa avere un respiro sovranazionale coinvolgendo le varie associazioni radioamatoriali mondiali. Ci sono circa 170 Paesi in cui vi sono uno o più oggetti o aree considerati Patrimonio dell'Umanità. Da questi siti abbiamo ricavato un numero veramente grande di Referenze valide ai fini del Diploma. Anche se questo Diploma nasce in Italia ad opera dell'A.R.I., la più importante associazione italiana di Radioamatori, ci auguriamo che presto altre Associazioni possano unirsi a noi e collaborare per la manutenzione delle liste nazionali WHSA. Queste liste sono da considerarsi provvisorie, da momento che noi conosciamo la situazione nel nostro Paese e ovviamente altre associazioni conoscono meglio di noi le situazioni dei loro stessi Paesi. Quindi ogni suggerimento per integrare la lista delle Referenze WHSA è il benvenuto, e naturalmente tutte le associazioni radioamatoriali sono invitate a prendere parte al progetto
